Meet Natalie
Teacher. Literacy specialist.
Big believer in helping children feel capable.
I’m a primary teacher and literacy specialist with more than 20 years of experience supporting children to become confident, capable learners.
From children taking their first steps towards Kindergarten to school-aged students who find reading and spelling difficult, my approach is grounded in explicit, evidence-informed teaching — with plenty of warmth, encouragement and connection along the way.
Because every child deserves to experience success as a learner.
More than 20 years in the classroom.
Teaching has been at the heart of my career for more than 20 years. During that time, I’ve worked with children across the primary years, with a particular passion for the foundations of learning that begin in the early years.

My experience as a Kindergarten teacher showed me just how important those foundations are, not only learning letters, sounds and numbers, but developing the confidence, independence and classroom skills that help children thrive at school.

For eight years, I worked in a dedicated literacy intervention role, where I was responsible for developing targeted programs to support struggling readers from Kindergarten to Year 3.
This experience deepened my understanding of how children learn to read, why some children find it more difficult than others, and the difference that explicit, systematic and carefully targeted teaching
can make. It also shaped the way I teach today.

I believe in understanding exactly where a child is at, identifying the skills they need and providing instruction that allows them to experience success step by step. Because when children begin to experience success, something else starts to grow too - their confidence as learners.

That combination of classroom experience, early years education and specialist literacy intervention eventually became FUN.damental Literacy and Clever Bee Kindergarten Prep. Two programs with different purposes, but the same goal: helping children become confident, capable learners.

What guides my teaching?
Children learn best when teaching is purposeful, FUN and
built around what they actually need.

Evidence Informed
Teaching grounded in current research and the science of how children learn.

Explicit & Systematic
Skills are taught clearly, directly and in a carefully planned sequence.

Individualised
Teaching begins with what each child can already do and targets what they need next.
